Volunteer Programs
Each year the Home and School Association coordinates the Volunteer Teacher Aide Program at St. Peter the Apostle School. An active parent involvement gives our teachers more quality time with our children and is also a strong statement to both teachers and students that we are concerned and supportive of them.
Please consider volunteering!
There are many ways in which you can assist. We would love to see not only moms volunteering, but also dads, grandparents, and guardians.
Some of the ways in which you can volunteer at St. Peter the Apostle School are:
- Lunchroom Shift Worker – A great way to spend time with all the children of St. Peter’s. Volunteers work in 2-hour shifts (usually once a week). Duties include stocking the buffet, cashier, readying supplies, and monitoring clean up.
- Lunchroom / Playground Class Helper - Monitor the students during lunch and recess.
- Filing or Grading Papers – File or grade papers for a teachers who does not teach the volunteer’s child. Some of the work can be done at home. This is a great way for working parents to help.
- General Classroom Helper - Assist a teacher in a variety of ways. The teacher can be the one who teachers the volunteer’s child or not.
- Story Reader – Spend about 30 minutes reading to the children in the younger grades.
- Art Class Assistant - Help the Art Teacher with the students in the Kindergarten, 1st, 2nd & 3rd Grades.
- PE Assistant – Help the PE teacher with the students in the lower grades.
- Library Assistant - Help the Librarians with students in the lower grades as they learn how to use the resources in our library
- Decorate Bulletin Boards - Help change the displays on the teacher's bulletin boards, approximately once/month.
- Tuesday Envelopes - Stuff on Tuesdays, or empty on Wednesdays
- Drama Assistant - Assist Mrs Fonseca with various aspects of play production.
- Hospitality Committee – Help arrange refreshments for school functions. Another great way for working parents to volunteer.
- Assist with the Book Fair – Volunteers can either help set up or work a shift. There are daytime, evening, and weekend positions.
Any amount of time you can volunteer is greatly appreciated.
