Extracurricular Activities

Altar Servers: Children in the school or Parish, third grade and above are eligible to be servers. For information please contact the Parish Office at 912.897.5156.

Athletics: St. Peter's offers a full-scale athletic program including Football, Basketball, Baseball, Golf, Softball, Volleyball, Cheerleading, Cross Country and Soccer.

Drama: 7th and 8th grade students are presenting "The Actor's Nightmare" on May 8,  2012. 

Intramural Sports: Nurturing a healthy spirit of competition, sportsmanship and teamwork for our Pre-K through 4th grade students, we offer Intramural Soccer and Basketball. Please see the athletics page for schedules.

National Geographic Geography Bee: For the 22nd year, in 2010, the National Geographic Society will hold the National Geographic Bee for students in the 4th through 8th grades. This is the tenth year in which St. Peter the Apostle School will participate.

National Junior Honor Society:  The NJHS is more than just an honor roll. The Honor Society chapter establishes rules for membership that are based upon a student's outstanding performance in the areas of scholarship, service, leadership, character and citizenship. These criteria for selection form the foundation upon which the organization and its activities are built.

Odyssey of the Mind is an international educational program that provides creative problem-solving opportunities for students from kindergarten through college. Team members apply their creativity to solve problems that range from building mechanical devices to presenting their own interpretation of literary classics. They then bring their solutions to competition on the local, state, and World level. Thousands of teams from throughout the U.S. and from about 25 other countries participate in the program. Led by Mrs. Sallie Boyles.

Ram Fitness: This is an after-school exercise program where students will exercise through games, relays, obstacles and even yoga! Students grades 1 - 4 may sign up. The program will run through the winter months. For more information, please contact Mrs. Stacie Paul.

Robotics Club:  FIRST LEGO League introduces young people ages 9 to 14 to the fun and excitement of science and technology while building self-confidence, knowledge and life skills. The program challenges kids to think like scientists and engineers. Georgia Tech Savannah hosts an official competition, with top teams advancing to the next level within the state competition.

Safety Patrol: Eighth grade students assist with morning carpool drop-off.

Scouting at St. Peters:

  • Girl Scout Troops: Brownies led by Erin Thompson, Brownies led by Alice Wood, Cadettes led by Sallie Boyles.
  • Cub Scouts: Pack 702 led by Tonya Murphy.

Southside Optimist Club Oratorical Contest: January 2012 Topic: "How my Optimism helps me overcome obstacles."

Scripps National Spelling Bee: Helping students improve their spelling, increase their vocabularies, learn concepts, and develop correct English usage. 2012 Deanery Spelling Bee  February 2 - (grades 5,6,7, 8 participate), 10:00 a.m. Parish Center, SPA Grades 3,4,5 Spelling Bee also February 2, 10:00 a.m. School Gym.

Student Council: A representative structure for students, through which they can become involved in the affairs of the school, working in partnership with school administration, staff and parents for the benefit of the school and its students.

Talent Show: February 14, 21012. Each year St. Peter's students share their performance talents in the Annual Talent Show. Musicians, singers, and dancers share the bill with other performers whose talents range from ventriloquism to karate and pogo jumping!

Yearbook: Middle school students serve as graphic designers, photographers and editors on the yearbook staff.

Youth Choir: Welcomes all children from the school and parish in grades 3-8 to join.
