January 2011 Home and School - Happy New Year!  As we begin 2011, let us continue to work "Together" to make Saint Peters the best school for our children. We have a very important meeting on Thursday, January 13 at 6:30 to discuss the future of our school.  Please try to make it.  We need our whole school family on board to help our school succeed.

November 2010 - Easy Money For St. Peter the Apostle
Here are some ways to help our school obtain things that would assist in the education of our children. Please involve other relatives to participate as well and TOGETHER we can make our school the best it can be! It's so easy!
Papa John's Pizza Contact: Erin Sasser 897-3546
Order every second Wednesday of the month so that the school gets 20% of total orders! Just remember to peel the sticker with the order total off your pizza box and place it on the Papa John's flyer that was sent home with your child the day before. Then, send the flyer into school with your child the next day to be cashed in! Please, please, please make sure you send in the sticker with your order total so we know how much to calculate. Thanks for supporting your school! Campbell's Soup Labels Contact: Karla Hughes 898-9922
Each Campbell's Soup label has a point value that we collect and pick out wonderful things for the classrooms. Please send labels in a ziploc bag. Thank you!
Box Tops Contact: Kerri Spirides 398-1300
The school receives money for all box tops you send in with your child. If you haven't done so already, please go on line and register your family and St. Peter the Apostle gets box tops that way too. Please send in all box tops in a ziploc bag. Thanks so much!
Ink Cartridges Contact: Carol Mesaros 897-5224 Please bring in your used ink cartridges to the school office. The school in turn receives cash. Thank you!

October 2010

We have started off to a very exciting and busy 2010 school year! Thank you to all who participated in our Annual Golf tournament. We had many teams competing and there was lots of fun by all who participated. Congratulations to Pat All, Paul All, Glen Price and Steve Taylor, winners of this year’s tourney!

We also had a beautiful celebration for Sr. Susan as the children, facility and friends honored her for 50th Jubilee. There was a beautiful Mass in her honor with the BC Cadet Choir performing during the service and followed by a reception hosted by the teachers. What a privilege to have such a dedicated, loving per-son teaching our children in this parish for the past 38 years! Thank you and God bless you Sr. Susan.

Be sure not to miss our first Home and School meeting that will be held Tuesday, October 5th. We will start at 6pm sharp in Parish Center with wine and cheese as we meet and greet old friends and introduce ourselves to our new families. This meeting will be for parents only. Please don’t miss it as we will be talking about many new and exciting things to come at St. Peter the Apostle School. After the meeting don’t forget to visit the Book Fair and get some Christmas shopping started and maybe purchase a new book for your child’s class.

Thank you for all that you do as parents to make St. Peter the Apostle the best school that we can be. It is because of your continued support, involvement, and dedication that allow us to grow TOGETHER - always striving to be better. Thank you for volunteering no matter how BIG or SMALL. It does make a difference! If there is anyone out there that would like to be more involved or maybe you have a great idea for a school social or fund raiser we would love to hear from you.

It is our FAMILIES, TEACHERS, PRINCIPAL and CHURCH that makes St. Peter special. Working TOGETHER we can achieve GREATNESS!

We will be giving away a couple of beautiful fall baskets, so be sure not to miss the drawing at the end of the night. Also the class that has the best attendance will receive a class party. Make sure to sign in parents…every person counts!

Many thanks from your Home and School Presidents,
Kim Morgan and Leigh Ebberwein

September 2010

And so it begins again, school that is. Some came back ready and counting down the days for their children to be back on a schedule. Some came back kicking and screaming, wanting to sleep late and be carefree. But, needless to say, we are all back.

This year you are so lucky, and don't even know it. You have two Home and School Presidents! Actually, it takes two of us to fill the shoes of Jennifer Schwalbe, but that's another story for another time.

t. I grew up as a student of the "Old Nativity". I had Father O'Brien perform my marriage and baptize my children. And now, like so many other parents in SPA, have my children in school at Saint Peters to have similar experiences that I have such fond memories of.

Kim and her family moved here two years ago from New Orleans. Her children attended an all boys catholic school with many of the same traditions as Saint Peters. Although she has seen things done differently at another school, imagine how much we can learn from her.

Both Kim and I believe that Saint Peters is the best kept secret on the Island. We would like to see all of us, as a parent body with Sister Roberta at the helm, mold Saint Peters into a school that every parent is proud of. We encourage each of you to get involved in order to make this happen.  Whether you are reading this and thinking, "I have done this for seven years....I am so done!" or "I am so new to the school, I have nothing to offer!"  We need you!

The first Home and School meeting is October 5 at 6:00.  Please plan to attend.

Sincerely,
Leigh Ebberwein and Kim Morgan

August 2010

Welcome new and returning: parents, faculty, staff, priests, students, and volunteers. Did I leave anyone out? If I did, please do not be offended. Each person is important at St. Peters. I hope everyone is ready for August 13th Orientation! Leigh has done a fabulous job organizing the event. Please congratulate her when you get a chance.

Our first Home and School Association meeting will be October 5th. Everyone should be excited as there will be performances from students, a Q and A session with a guest speaker, and the first mandatory meeting if you want to enter for the tuition drawing!

This HSA statement for me is bittersweet. As I have accepted a teaching position at St. Peter the Apostle, I have decided to step down from serving as president of the Home and School Association.

God bless,

Pam Magliulo

June 2010

I would like to thank everyone that has decided to volunteer for another year on either the Executive Committee or as a Chairperson for our next academic year. It is exciting to witness all of the changes that have occurred in the past two years that my son has been at St. Peter's. I have come to love this school as much as he does and hope to inspire that in others. I have a lot of ideas for this upcoming year. I will be sharing some of those ideas in future postings. Please feel free to contact me if you have any specific requests.

From the last update I received, there are still a few positions within the H&SA that are vacant. Please consider committing some of your time and talent (two of our Stewardship "T"s!) to St. Peter's this upcoming academic year. The success of our association relies on our volunteers.

Also in that vein, I would personally like to thank Jennifer Schwalbe and the rest of the H&SA Officers and Chairs for all of the hard work for the past year or more. Thank you for all that you have done for St. Peter's!

I hope that all of our students, teachers, parents, and staff have a great summer. I look forward to seeing new as well as familiar faces at Vacation Bible School this summer!
Pamela Magliulo,

May 2010

To finish the year off, join us for the last H&S meeting on May, 11 at 6:30pm. We will announce the new officers for next year, have the drawing for the $1500 towards tuition and we will have an art & music show. Come out and support your school and the talented children at St. Peter the Apostle!

As we come to a close, I would like to thank everyone for all of your support during the last two years. Being a part of the H&S Association has been a great experience, and I look forward to new experiences in the future. I wish everyone a great and safe summer.

Thank you and God Bless. Jennifer Schwalbe, H&SA President

April 2010

I would like to thank the auction committee for a job well done. This year's auction was a great success. Thank you everyone for helping and attending our school fundraiser.

Do you want to help make a difference? We are still looking for officers for next's years H&S Executive Committee. It takes a great deal of talented people to make our H&S operate. We will be sending out a ballet in the Tuesday envelope. Please keep in mind that by being a part of the H&SA this counts towards your stewardship. We still need the following positions filled; Vice President, Book Fair chair, and Room Parent coordinator. If you would like further information on the following positions, please feel free to contact me.

Don't want to miss the May 11 H&S meeting. We will be having an art and music show. During the meeting we will have all the children's art displayed for purchase and then following the business meeting we will have a musical recital. Also, during this time we will be doing the $1500 drawing, you must be present to win.
Jennifer Scwhalbe, H&SA President

February 2010
Catholic Schools Week is coming up this month. Let's remember the students, teachers, grandparents, parents and volunteers during this time; it takes all of us working together to make St. Peter's the best Catholic school around.

If you are still looking for ways to volunteer this year, the auction is approaching and we are still in need of much help. It takes a lot of people to put this event on. This is our largest fundraiser for the year, which help supports the school budget. The auction social is Feb. 6th. You can help out by bringing donations or gifts for the silent auction, as well as by volunteering your time.

Don't forget the third H&SA meeting is Feb. 2, at 6:30pm in the old school gym. This is an important meeting, please be present to review the new by-laws and select nominees for next year's officers. You don't want to miss the tour of our NEW computer lab; it will take place after the meeting.
Have a Happy Valentine's Day!
Jennifer Schwalbe, H&SA President

January 2010
We will be starting the New Year off with a new computer lab! H&S would like to thank the IT committee for all their hard work on making this happen.

H&S would like to thank everyone for attending the last meeting. Our fourth grade students did a beautiful job showing the meaning of Christmas through music!

The next H&S meeting will be February 2nd. You don't want to miss this meeting: we will be reviewing new By-Laws for H&S and taking nominations for next year's officers. Also, our lower school students will be doing a presentation.

The next Home and School meeting will be Tuesday, Dec 15 at 6:30pm in the parish center. You don't want to miss this event; we will have a Christmas program presented by our students. Please come and support your students and school. Remember if you attend all four meetings your name will go into a drawing for $1500 off next year's tuition.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
Jennifer Schwalbe, H&SA President

November 2009
I would like to thank all the parents that attended the first H&S meeting. The meeting was a great success. We would not have been able to have this great meeting if it wasn't for the parents, staff and 2nd grades students.

Mrs. Portman did a wonderful job in preparing our 2nd grade students for their musical performance. We hope to have many more student performances during our meetings throughout the year.

Congratulations to Mrs. Ducey's class for having the most parents' attendance. Don't forget the next meeting will be December 15.
I wish everyone a thankful, safe and happy Thanksgiving.
Jennifer Schwalbe, H&SA President

October 2009
The H&SA would like to thank all the parents that helped volunteer with our first family fun night. The children had a wonderful time. We raised a profit of $375 which will go towards helping with future H&SA events. Look for further details on the next family fun night.

Don't forget about Papa John's pizza night, 2nd Tuesday of each month! Our school makes a 20% profit which goes towards enhancing our technology needs. During the month of September, we made a profit of $58.99. We would like to thank the parents that participated with this event. Please keep the pizza night flier that you get in the communication envelope the Tuesday before so you can adhere your receipt's) and send in to school the very next day! ALSO - Look for our Papa John coupon books at the Oct. 6th H&S meeting.

Don't forget our first H&S meeting is Oct. 6th at 6:30pm in the church. We will have a special report on Terra Nova results. Also, keep in mind that the $1500 drawing for attending all four meetings starts with this meeting.
Hope to see everyone there!
Jennifer Schwalbe, H&SA President

September 2009
Welcome back students, parents, new families, and staff. Hope everyone had a wonderful and safe summer break. The H&S Association has been busy planning a fun and exciting school year. Some of this years upcoming events are family fun nights, such as bingo, movie and reading and a raffle drawing at the last school meeting for $1500 towards next years tuition. In order for these events to be successful, we need as many parents to help in the school and with special events as possible. Please sign up if you have not already.

I would like to give a big thank you to our Used Uniform Sales coordinator, Sissy Woods. She worked very hard during the summer to make the sale a big success of $950. Also, would like to thank all parents that donated to the sale.

The open house was a great success. Thank you parents that helped with set up and the volunteer chairpersons for making the volunteer fair a wonderful night. Also, the branding committee did an outstanding job with the opening pep rally. I look forward to a wonderful year. Together, we can make a difference. GO RAMS!
God Bless!
Jennifer Schwalbe, H&SA President
