Lenten Journey
One might think that January 1st is a new beginning because it is the start of a new year. While that may be true, Lent is a new beginning as well. With each of these occasions comes new resolutions, but Lent is a more spiritual time that requires us to find out what God has in mind for us. Ash Wednesday marked the beginning of our journey to grow spiritually if we enter this special time wholeheartedly.
The season of Lent brings me much joy because I see people putting forth effort to better themselves in many ways and I know they are doing this for God, for God’s children, and for the love of their Catholic faith. I see it in adults as well as in children. Teachers are taking students to Adoration so that they may learn to pray and reflect just as we parents do. My daughter said something so beautiful the other day and it was something she was taught and obviously it touched her heart and soul. She said, “We fast in order that we can make more room for God. We open up our system for God.” These children are hearing the message and taking it to heart. Jesus sacrificed his ALL for them and now our children are learning how to sacrifice. This leads them and us to the PRAYER, FASTING, AND ALMSGIVING that are the pillars of the Lenten season.
Let us take this journey TOGETHER as we excitedly await the resurrection of Jesus and may we continue to grow TOGETHER as a parish and school family.
God Bless each of you this Easter season and always.
